This fall a team of five men from TAC are going to to Loja, Ecuador to partner with Galcom International to distribute 800 solar-powered, fixed-tuned radios to the people in that region. These fixed-tuned radios are programmed to receive only the frequencies of Christian radio stations. The Team will be joined by Brad Blackborrow from Ontario and hosted in Loja by Lower Mainlanders Wayne and Duanna Borthwick of SIM.

With an average of seven people per family, one radio per family will expose 5600 people in rural, mountain villages of Ecuador to the Word of God and biblical teaching, with great potential for eternal impacts in those lives.

The team is leaving on October 25th and will return on November 4th. They will be staying at a SIM mission in Loja and distributing radios within a 2-hour driving radius of Loja. Additionally, they will be conducting church services and encouraging Christian workers in the area. It means so much to the people in these impoverished regions that people from Canada care enough about them to travel all this way to meet them and minister to them.

Support the Ecuador Mission Team

There is still a ways to go to reach the Team's fund-raising total needed to finance the trip.

Send an e-transfer to office@tachurch.ca and indicate "Ecuador Missions Trip" in the Comments field.

To give in-person, insert cash or a cheque into an offering envelope and fill it out, writing "Ecuador Missions Trip" on the "Other" line. Drop the offering envelope into one of the black boxes near the doors in the Sanctuary.

Passive Bottle Drive: Bring your bottles and cans and beverage containers to the Return-It Depot and use the church's phone number (604-943-6148). We will apply those refunds to the missions trip!

Pray for the Team

More important than finances is prayer. Please pray for:

  • Favor with all the various government officials, both in Ecuador and en-route
  • Open doors to reach the Ecuadorian villagers
  • Prepare the hearts of the people they will encounter and who will receive the radios to be open to the Word of God
  • Safety and health during travel and on the ground. Some of these villages are at an elevation of 8,000' where elevation sickness may be a factor
  • The Lord to be glorified and for people to come to saving faith through these efforts
