What sets the followers of Jesus apart from others? Jesus himself made it clear that the distinguishing mark of his true disciples is their love for others. He said “by this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). In the New Testament there are seventeen places where Jesus’ followers are instructed to “love one another”. On top of that, there are more than 40 other “one another” commands: exhort one another, serve one another, comfort one another, forgive one another, show hospitality to one another, and on it goes.

Jesus and the Apostles made it abundantly clear that the Christian life was not meant to be lived alone. A church is not a program or a service or a weekly event, but it is a community, a community centred on Jesus and committed to loving and serving each other and the world. A healthy church experiences vibrant, loving, sacrificial, Jesus-focused, others-serving authentic community.

To facilitate this kind of authentic gospel-centred community, we encourage everyone to get connected into a Community Group. A Community Group is a small number of people (8-12ish), that are committed to sharing their lives together. We gather most weeks in homes around Tsawwassen and Ladner to discuss life and scripture, to pray and encourage each other, and to join together in the mission Jesus has entrusted us.
